Licensed Midwives (LMs)
Coverage designed for home & birth center providers.
Policies are written in the name of the individual midwife.
Group practices may have multiple individual policies.
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs)
Coverage available for CNMs licensed as ARNPs in Washington who provide out-of-hospital midwifery care, including gyn care.
Policies are issued in the name of the CNM.
Hospital-based CNMs are not eligible for coverage under the JUA.
Freestanding Birth Centers
Coverage available for licensed birth centers operating in Washington State.
The policy is issued in the name of the facility.
Staff midwives working at the birth center must be separately insured through their own JUA policies or another carrier.
Facility coverage does not replace the need for individual provider coverage.
